ABOUT US

MISSION

Youth as Possibility Chicago (YAPC) was created in December of 1999. Our mission is to guide and mentor at-risk African American youth to fulfilling and productive lives in their community. Our vision is that these young people contribute to the uplifting of their people and the community. We want them to engage in healthy and responsible relationships; be positive role models for younger youth; engage in responsible parenting and become loving, positive human beings. Our vision is that they live long enough to grow up.

GOALS

  • Youth learn respect for authority, e.g., parents, teachers, and police.
  • Youth cease anti-social, destructive behavior
  • Youth complete High School, college, or vocational training
  • Youth have access to leadership development training
  • Youth become involved in community projects with their mentor
  • Youth have access to long-term mentoring and tutoring
